Awful considering Essendon basically fielded a C team with almost half their team playing 20 games or less.

Embarrassing efforts by some of our mid-senior players in the second half, namely Warner, Paps and Errol.

That very much felt like a "well the season is done and the conditions are shit" kind of performance. Not really much to write home about but I don't think it means much.

Dattoli's debut was solid, think that was Campbell's best game all season. Buller keeps improving. Grundy's gotta be AA at this point.

Really liking the progression of Buller, was good again today. Gets highly involved around the packs, always keeping himself in the contest.

Rowie playing predominately forward was an interesting move. He tackles but his offensive output on ball is not up there with the best. I wonder whether there's a thought that we need a more productive midfield beast who not only tackles but gets 20+ with half a dozen clearances per game. Someone like Liber, Dunkley or Green.

• It was a game that happened. Dead rubber, I guess.
• Get the Negatives out of the way, we get to 4 goal leads and stop, we need to learn to put the foot-down and blow margins out...and I will die on the hill that the backline is the most urgent fix over the summer. Handball game needs a lot of work.
• Blakey best game in a long while, not against much but hopefully the start of the turnaround.
• If Grundy is not in the AA team it's a disgrace. Been sensational since that first bye after looking like he was struggling those first 3 weeks.
• Dattolli showed glimpses in the first half. Heeney and Errol were solid.
• Thought Buller was terrific. Competed well, took some stong marks and basically was our forward line at times today. Could easily be our forward ruck, leaving McLean to be the genuine back up ruck. Of all the uncontracted talls - Hamling, Ladhams, Francis - Buller should be the one re-contracted, got more upside than the others....and showed today how much more likely he is than Ladhams who we for some reason are offering a 2 year deal to.

To be fair, there were a few extenuating circumstances.

The weather was shite.

We're out of finals contention so it's only natural for the boys to be down.

Playing an obviously sub par opposition.

The lack of atmosphere was palpable from the comfort of my lounge room.
