I was a bit worried on ability alone but this injury overlay is very concerning.
I really wanted Deven Robertson at that pick (who would have been a great Selwood replacement in the next few years), so it's extra sad that Cooper has another big injury as Dev is taking off at Brisbane.

Not even close.
Well you tell me who goes out then?

these are the players to come back.

danger, oconnor, Duncan, miers, simpson.

thats five players. Who goes out?

narkle, Holmes, dalhaus (and I’m not sure Scott even chooses close ahead of dalhaus at this point), close and one of atkins/kolo.

if close doesnt go then who does?

sav might go out but he is replaced by Stanley or fort.

Close might lose his spot to Miers but not Simpson. That’s all I’m saying.

I think Atkins has become an established defender in the side that has moved beyond a drop candidate. Maybe if the finals were today (given the free-kicks and limitations in the air) but I see most of that ironing out as he gains more experience down back and IMO he'll get that chance given how promising he's looked. I don't think Kolo gets dropped either.

For me, Duncan, Danger, and O'Connor are obvious options to walk into the side. We're probably looking at Miers, Simpson, Higgins, Dahlhaus, Close and Zuthrie competing for those last two spots.

My best 22:
FB: Bews Henderson Touhy
HB: Atkins Henry Stewart
C: Duncan Guthrie Smith
HF: Menegola Cameron ??
FF: Rohan Hawkins ??
R: Blicavs Dangerfield Selwood
Int: XXXX O'Connor Kolodjashnij Parfitt
Sub: ??

The XXXX spot is for a ruckmen. I have Ratugolea currently ahead of Stanley and Fort.

The three ?? spots IMO are highly dependent on form, fitness, and matchups. I currently have Narkle, Close, and Higgins as the in form/fitness options but any of Zuthrie, Dahlhaus, Holmes, Clarke, or Simpson could take those spots if healthy and firing. The reality is injuries probably allow most of these guys to play more often than not assuming they're healthy themselves.

Dangerfield still listed on AFL site as '1 - 2 weeks'. That means he could play v Power, but will be a 50:50 proposition
They will hold him back imo. He's admitted they are pulling the reins on him. Don't want to rush him back too soon.

We are doing pretty well without him, and it would be silly rushing him back before he is ready. Plus we have Blitz, Guth and Duncan to squeeze back into the team. Might not be the greatest idea bringing back too many players at once.

Oconnor must have had a really bad hamstring injury - whats he missed already 4-5 weeks - and i read yesterday hes still 1-2 weeks away

Actually Miers Danger and Simpson were listed as 1-2 weeks as well - with Stephens as indefinite

Are we though?

in the last 7 weeks we have only played 1 game against a team in the top 6 and we lost that game.

we have had an extremely favourable draw so far this year.

in the next 3 weeks we play 3 teams in the top 6. Two of them interstate.

we need danger.

I wouldn’t take the AFL injury list seriously. I’d say Danger is a chance. And I agree we need him back.

Our form is hard to read. Lot of games blighted by inaccurate kicking or key players missing (us and our opponents).

You could make a case we are going really well or have been lucky. I am on the fence.

Next few weeks we will know.

Miers was supposed to only miss 1-2.
No idea why they even said that as a stress fracture is usually a long time.

I thought it was a hairline fracture not a stress fracture. I know its seems like splitting hairs, but a physically induced fracture can usually heal a little easier than a hot spot or stress fracture as I understand it.

Either way - 2 weeks not a real estimate to begin with.

Go Catters

Geelong midfielder Mitch Duncan will miss an extended period after a MRI confirmed he suffered a PCL injury in Friday’s win over the Bulldogs.

“We were expecting that the injury was to Mitch’s PCL, and the scan confirmed that,” Geelong’s general manager of football Simon Lloyd said.

“There was no other damage to Mitch’s knee. The rehabilitation timelines will be further discussed with our medical and fitness team in consultation with specialists.

“We will explore all available options that will allow Mitch to return as quickly and safely as possible.”

It might be just the opportunity Clark needs....take it in both hands and he's set. Fail to grasp it and he'll be free to go.

Narkle's performance against the Dogs was ordinary and I thought his defensive shortcomings were exposed...Daniel led him a merry dance. That said, he may deserve another go against Brisbane's midfield. A real test for him.

Hard choice for the MC.
