Would that issue with Logue not be an example of the kind of thing that would be detected pre draft in medical screening by the clubs? All clubs say they do their “due diligence” from a medical perspective, but I wonder how useful it really is.

I can’t see them going to those lengths to get a full body X-rays. If you had a problem in a certain area coming in they may do certain tests but Logue was supremely fit & healthy.

Would have been helpful to know about Jayden Pitt’s heart condition before but how far can you go before it’s invasive.

He had been able to play football for a while and at a high level, not to mention his other athletic ventures, with that extra bone so it would have taken a brave person to rule a line through a top ten player on a possible issue later that when it came up they still thought could be managed after a period of rest.

I don't think picking Logue was that much of a tight call with the next potential player for it to tip over to the alternative.

Ya I see what you mean. It’s over 10 years since Pitt was selected though. I know that jaidyn stephensons heart issue was well known by all clubs pre draft in 2017 though.

Wow, unlucky. Logue has two bones in his foot instead of the one in particular supposed to be in that spot and Sean Darcy injured a ligament a third of people don't even have.

Yep, but some still subscribe to the bullshite theory of “you make your own luck”.

Just hope that Logue gets a decent run at it this year. There’s an AA key position defender in there. I’m convinced of it. If his fitness and training load has to be managed to ensure he gets on the park every week then so be it. That’s what the S&C guys are paid to do. He’s a natural athlete anyway so having a no dicier training regime shouldn’t affect him as much as other players.
it’s funny living in Melbourne - AFL people here are oblivious to the ability he has. Up to the St kilda game last year, Logue was arguably the best player at the club. It was only after he got injured that Luke ryan came into his own.

Darcy will be fine. There is essentially 8-weeks till round 1. He would be doubtful of being cherry ripe for round 1 due to conditioning required after being a brace for about 3 weeks. But he should get up to speed quickly. So the match committee will need to make a call on his conditioning.

The opportunity presents now for Meek to play the preseason games. I couldn’t care less if we lose the practice games. These games are invaluable to get conditioning and give players that haven’t played too much some game time to impress. Valente, Meek, Chapman, Henry, Treacy come to mind. Schultz got his go last pre-season and impressed.

My hope is that the coaches manage to give Lobb a goalkicking routine.

His routine last year was laughed out by crowds, commentators and even his teammates.

If he wants to play forward like he keeps saying he does, this needs to be addressed.
Pretty sure he has been. Should ask for pointers from SonSon and Tabs. Be nice to have McCarthy as he was a very efficient, effective set shot.

Looks like a spoof on his Jesse Hogan report from last year. I don't think he even uses Twitter?

sturt back running which is a good sign. walters, tucker and logue running laps. rehab group looking pretty thin at the moment. session ended with a match sim, couple of guys came off wounded including wilson who tweaked his ankle after crowden slid in low against him and schultz after trying to tackle cerra and receiving a forearm to the head. impressed with chapman, great mark and was involved in a lot of play. also like the look of treacy, good hands and confident in front of goal.

Don’t forget our scratch match specialist Banfield who will dominate the practice matches as a goal kicking defensive forward and then go completely missing once the real stuff starts.

Lets hope the Friday night February 26th at Freo oval is still on....Would love to whip the toast in Freo!!

I reckon the Melbourne game will still be on as we will play West Coast in the scratch match
