Charles Sutton Medal:

2017 - 2nd
2018 - 7th
2019 - 4th

To say he’s done nothing after 2016 is grossly unfair.
Would agree, fully it is very unfair to say he has done nothing since 2016.

However, it is 2023 so what he did prior to 2020 is not relevant to his spot in the team now. there are very few runs on the board since 2020 so to bring him in underdone without a good vein of form made zero sense. He was a liability last week which has been recognised, but would not have been too hard to forsee.

Probable the harsher thing was comparing him to Hannan who has even less substance behind him.

We have to stop picking teams on names of players who have done things in the past and pick them on where they are now. Some players do earn credits in the bank, but they are not unlimited. It is all about being prepared, last week we clearly were not and bringing in underdone players without those credits exacerbated the issue.

There are other names that need to step up this week and if they don't our selection committee needs to act early and not waste a season this early on

Sorry for the intrusion but thought I’d try putting a team of both sides injured players together.
Not sure if I’m missing any & if so I apologise also seeing I’m a Saints supporter we got the best positions. 😉

Very true. The shame for us was we almost had to get smashed last week for them to realise this. Had we won it would have papered over the extremely poor selection of Hannan and JJ. Blind freddy could see West and Garcia are better options than those two, not just for the future but for the now.

English a late out with a minor rolled ankle you say?

Nek minnit - also misses round 3, then updated to unavailable for 8-10 weeks.

It's the current Bulldogs way.

He's been carrying the ankle injury for six years, hurt it more on Wednesday, so the medicos have decided to amputate.

He'll be indefinitely missing as the club can't say for certain what the timeframe is for one ankled players.
