Injury Clark Confirmed Out for the Season

According to Neeld's press conference.

He said Clark's foot injury was "a great wait and see" and he would be pleased if the key forward played another game this year.
"The way that it gets explained, the boys say it's a very unique injury," Neeld said.
"The ligament is going well but they had to take the screw out early because it shifted.
"He does four days of rehab and he's got to rest two.
"On the second day that he rests he goes off and sees some very expensive specialist who then tells him what he can do for the next four days.
"How frustrating is that? I get that report every six days.

"So if Mitch plays another game for the year I'll be really pleased. It's that unknown."

This is getting very concerning now. 15 games in 2 seasons would be shocking, not to mention the fact that we don't know how degenerative the injury is. Right about now, Clark is treading on eggshells with regards to his AFL future, I think.

Why oh why did we rush him back? ******* Neeld/Misson.

Meanwhile, Dawes could be in big trouble too. Going in for scans tomorrow on his ankle.

It wasn't that we rushed him back. He sprained his ankle (nothing to do with his previous injury) and the coaches/fitness staff/doctors saw that as a better time to put him in to surgery rather than wait until the end of the year and hinder his next off-season.

It almost sounds as if it may be best to avert as much aggravation as possible even if it means hardly doing anything. Then start the pre-season when possible. If he isn't coming back this year then let him recover in a long term manner.

Clark's durability is seriously questionable. It's as if all future plans should be made without considering him, and if we have him then its just a plus!

Exactly. Time to think long term. If it takes 75 weeks to get him right, so be it.

At least this means Watts will be able to play up forward for the rest of the year :rainbow:

Saw this coming and don't think we will say much of Clark at all in his entire MFC career.

If the club gets a PP, which I think it will, I think we'll recruit Tom Boyd, with Hogan we'll have 2 x 15 year forwards, it's obvious that Clark & Dawes are injury prone unfortunately.

No way, even if that was the case we need midfield depth way more than a second key forward.

We Have Hogan, Dawes will keep playing and watts will hopefully develop further, jeremy howe can play out of the goalsquare... It would be a MASSIVE call to take boyd

Club are very keen on Boyd

If we get a PP then I'd be alright with taking one mid and Boyd.

If we don't get a PP then I'll slaughter Neeld if take Boyd - UNLESS we get some good FA mids in.

EDIT -

*this is not a death threat Neeldy

Boyd?

Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Watts, Fitzpatrick, Gawn are plenty.

It depends how Clark recovers I think.

If we're genuinely concerned about Clark, we go for Boyd providing our midfield is in okay shape after FA.

Best case scenario, Clark can go into the ruck and impact contests all over the ground.

Worst case; Clark retires young.

Boyd?

Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Watts, Fitzpatrick, Gawn are plenty.

Clark - never on the park
Dawes - injury prone
Hogan - hasn't played a game yet.
Watts - not a key forward, wing/flank
Fitzpatrick - not afl standard
Gawn - ruckman, not key fwd. injury prone
