It's complicated.

They sacked their long time recruiter Francis Jackson after 2016, he'd been there 10 years or so.

But also he drafted most of their premiership players: Riewoldt, Edwards, Cotchin, Rance, Martin, Astbury, Grimes, Houli, Grigg, Ellis, Vlastuin, McIntosh, Butler, Short, Castagna, Lambert, Rioli, Broad, Townsend, Caddy, Nankervis, Prestia, Bolton, Graham were all his recruiting.

He didn't recruit Balta, Baker, Pickett or Lynch

Despite winning on guys like Martin he also had that long list of fails like Vickery, Griffiths, Conca, Lennon, Yarran, McMahon and Corey Ellis
Any idea when he started?

Question, did Richmond keep their recruiter from 2004? Was he behind the premiership squad they built?

And I’m not sure this actually helps build your case, 2004 and they won their first flag in 2017, you happy for our rebuild to take 13 years?

I’m sorry you went to so much effort.
Whether they changed recruiters or not, they still blew multiple picks in the 2010’s

Players from the 2004 draft would have been 30 in 2017. They absolutely could have contributed to their premierships

You’ve gone back to 2004, it’s relevant whether they’ve kept the same recruiter.

And as you went back to 2004, that’s 13 years to win the flag. Hamish took over in 2012 didnt he? He’s got 2 years to win us a flag

But also, they stayed crap for a long time until they nailed the picks that got them Martin and Cotchin etc. They're not examples that you can build a dynasty by blowing those picks and coming quickly up the ladder. If you blow the picks it tends to extend the rebuild.

Whether we're alone in blowing picks is not the material question- the real issue is what effect doing that has on our prospects now.

If we're following the Richmond model, we're still without the core premiership pieces (i.e. the elite midfielders).
