Play Frampton now! not when Kanye West is elected US President

Don't think that was outlandish at all. Played in the NAB and only recognised backup ruck. It was to be expected a some point. Less outlandish that John Butcher getting a game.
I'm talking before NAB before intra-club

Both taken in the same draft there's not a huge difference in "Being Ready"

Or we can play Dixon in the ruck, Schulz and Butcher in tandem up forward and return to a backline of Trengove, Hombsch and Austin for a few weeks to give Jacko a bit of a break and try something different in the ruck and up forward.

Agree but Charlie don't ruck even when the Jacko is cooked & the seasons on the line, why would that change now the seasons in the shitter?

Why the * would we throw Dixon into the ruck???

There is absolutely zero reason for putting him in the firing line and risk him getting injured at all!

I would rather bring Lobbe back next week early and risk him re-injuring his knee than have some opposition ruck jump into Dixon all day!

Time for butcher to step up and ruck - the season is cooked anyway!

You only risk Dixon in the ruck to give Jacko a 5 minute rest once or twice maximum a game so that he is rested and fresh for a last quarter full onslaught. That would be it and it would be done only a 2 or 3 times in the home and away and then in finals when it's do or die games.

It hasn't happened when the seasons been on the line so it would be strange to see it now the seasons in tatters.. As for the risk factor players can do a knee or roll an ankle at training, it's a card we should've played in a few close loses this year but it's all pointless now.

Sure but ruckmen are more susceptible to injuries than any other position because everytime they go up for a ruck contest at a centre bounce they have the opportunity to have a knee driven thru their ribs, spleen, head, groin chest etc. You don't have that every time you go for a mark in the forward line. Pretty basic assessment of risk areas I would have thought. So why take a risk on a $700k a year player who has taken you 10 years plus to recruit to play the gorilla key forward role when you should be recruiting ruckmen to bloody play in the ruck.

We are getting all a bit mamby on "risk" are we not? lets not throw Ryder in there next year either as he's on good coin, we can all take no risks & sing the mickey mouse song.

Thats just complete bullshit. Did we ruck Tredders??? No so why should we ruck Dixon? Dixon has a specific role to play not just use him because he is tall to ruck. How many time did Tony Lockett or Jason Dunstall play in the ruck or fullback when they had injuries to people in those positions. A full forward should know how to handle FB or CHB. Yes Lockett once ruck ed in a state game for a quarter but that was about it.

Ryder is a ruckman and knows how to protect himself and reduce his risk and he is paid big dollars to mainly ruck. Dixon is paid to be a key forward.

He's no stranger to spending some time in ruck & he's not a forward in the mold of any of those guys.

Billy Frampton may be a chance in a season or two, but having seen how he struggled against Daniel Bass ( remember him? ) at centre clearances on saturday I can't see how he could compete in the cauldron of AFL footy.

So what are the stats on the time he spent in the ruck at GC every year?

Agree. Did Frampton ever try and get front position at boundary throw ins? He always appeared to be content to play from behind.

Then again, it may have just been me being grumpy.:)

Like this a lot.

Bass was BOG - is there a better word than dominated?
