Essendon and Preston meet each other for the first time this season. Preston have struggled so far this season, only winning one game so far against fellow cellar-dwellers Coburg, whilst Essendon are only percentage outside of the top 4. Since becoming stand alone in 2013 Essendon have never lost to Preston, with some pretty hefty defeats in there, winning the last 5 games against them.
Preston were smashed early against Box Hill last week, before the Hawks took their foot off the pedal late to allow Preston to kick a few goals in the last quarter. Tom Wilson was impressive for the Blues, collecting 35 disposals in the midfield whilst Jack Silvagni gathered 20 touches and a goal across half forward.
Essendon put on a clinic in the third quarter against Geelong, turning an 11 point deficit into a 22 point lead which was put Essendon over the line against the Cats, who had a late run to get to 7 points behind when the final siren went. Darcy Parish had 32 touches in the midfield, Mason Redman had 28 as well whilst Mitch Brown and Josh Green had 3 goals apiece up forward.
Possible Essendon side (no senior changes):
Redman - Hartley - McNiece
Francis - BZT - Hind
Long - Heppell - Parish
Mynott - Boyse - Houlahan
Draper - Brown - Green
Leuenberger - Hocking - Myers
Younan - Sheahan - Fennell - Mutch - Crosbie*
