This is seriously becoming a joke.

When you have club supporters thrilled at the result of a wanted player leaving, the system is broken.
I agree, end of first round should be the max compensation and everything lower scaled down accordingly.

Pick 19!

Holy crap how much are Brisbane paying him?
I would guess teams are pricing in the expected increases to the CBA and salary cap when making offers this offseason. Meanwhile the AFL hasn't updated their compensation mechanism to account for this, making it a very good seller's market for free agents.

The man’s done an acl in each leg and played 80 games, I can’t understand how pick 19 is given here, I rate Doedee but this is crazy

It's crazy that Doedee has done two ACLs and still played 11 more games to this point than McKay who's about to get pick 3.

It's just a trash system, we have seen time and time again that the current rules are awful and very rarely actually generate 'fair' compo.

Just as an example for those that think I'm being crazy:

Pick 1. H. Reid (WC)
Pick 2. Walter - North bid (GC)
Pick 3. Curtin (North)
Pick 4. McKercher - McKay compo (North)
Pick 5. Watson - trade with GC for Picks 11, 18 and Future 1st, for 5 and Future 2nd (Dogs)
Pick 6. Z. Duursma (Hawks)
Pick 7. E. Read - Melbourne bid (GC)
Pick 8. O'Sullivan (Melbourne)
Pick 9. N. Caddy (GWS)
Pick 10. Sanders (Geelong)

Why is there compo at all. No other league does this

You're a FA or you're not. Restricted means you can match

The AFL is just a cowboy league that can't handle free agency
