Traded Patrick Ryder traded to Port for picks 17 and 37

Butcher plus 16 is a fair trade I just don't think Essendon have any need for it. I have faith in Carlisle as a forward, he had more than just a good fortnight and you have to remember Essendon's ball movement was horrendous at times. Carlisle forward also allows him more freedom to be the second ruck which I think would work well if he got a liking for it. Especially if Bomber coaches I expect Carlisle and Daniher to start to work really well and that would leave Butcher just languishing in the reserves.

I can't believe how hard it is to find a player from a top 4 side in Port that fits in to the 7th places Bombers as a nice pick up alongside Ryder. You'd think there'd be one. I'm a Ben Newton fan but it's hard to say he's worth anything more than a pick 50 and that makes him pretty negligible in trade value.

Carlisle does ruck better than Daniher but given he seems to regularly have back complaints I don't see him being used as a second ruck over Daniher.

He won't be playing for us next year, but I doubt he will be playing for Port either. GWS and GC could both compensate us properly and Ryder fits the needs of both, I suspect we are negotiating with both clubs and unless Port come up with something sensible he will end up at one of those two clubs.

How is it that there are so many Bombers supporters with no idea of how trading works?

GWS can offer you pick 1 and Jeremy Cameron if they want, but if Ryder (whose manager has already said he's 'locked in' at Port) doesn't agree to the trade, then it is totally and utterly irrelevant.

Easily get a trade done too. First round pick plus Matera, done.

HAHAHAHAHA! Pick 7 and Matera for a 27 year old ASADA affected Ryder? **** me. Sure you don't want Ablett thrown in too?

ASADA affected? Why trade for him then?

I doubt GC would agree to a straight swap Matera for Ryder, let alone throwing in a draft pick too.

One more preseason in all our young fellas and we're going to be favourites for the premiership in 2015 with or without Ryder. No point throwing everything at him.

And Matera would have to agree to go there. WA boy whose father played for West Coast but for some reason he would want to move to Essendon where they aren't even sure who the coach is.

He's easy we take him next year for nothing after GWS put another years development into him.

What is it with people trying to get Gorringe off GWS? o_O

well he and his manager can be as "locked" as they want, but if Ess don't agree to the trade it doesn't happen, and Ryder either plays in red and black or sits out of footy for 2 years

Isn't Ryder contracted?
Don't know about this confidence that he's picked Port so that's that.
They'll still have to make a fair and reasonable offer or the trade just won't go ahead.
He'd be stuck at Essendon.
I wouldn't imagine Essendon would blink an eyelid either in their current mood.

tim membrey rejected essendon because of the circumstances..you think our players want to join your club? just take the picks FFS!
Who said it was due to the drugs scandal? He's leaving Sydney due to lack of opportunities so it would make sense that he nominates a club where he's an automatic selection each week such as St Kilda.

I think it basically comes down to Goodes deciding to go around again.

Trade radio made it clear the Bombers people are dicks to deal with & that Ryder using the get-out clause is a very real option and would be supported by the Players association.

I disagree with delisting, but no club should be considering trading for him with a half decent pick atm.

Damo also told us Hird wouldn't survive the weekend.

Best communications specialist in the business.
