Just home from the game (FU VicRoads!). I'm sure it's all been said:

- Parfitt awesome. Combines poise with real tackling grunt. He's a beauty.
- Stewart had a ripper. Really wish he plucked that speccy.
- Menzel a ripper. Just remember - we never "tried to trade him". He was a free agent and could have walked if any club wanted him. Luckily, we were the only club that did.
- Happy with Stanley's game. Won his position and that's a step forward on the first three rounds.
- Kolo continues to build and Henry was pretty good again. We are really fortunate that this period without Taylor and Hendo has allowed us to see what the younger brigade are capable of.
- Menegola continues to do well as a high half forward. Such a great overhead mark. He really creates a difficult match-up.
- Great to get another win that wasn't PFD/Selwood dominated. A good even spread.

Age has nought to do with it just too comfortable with the home ground thing sitting in the seats that their relatives did

It's just a self conscious crowd and always has been.
Even when we had the outer, full strength beer and Gary Snr KP was very very quiet.
I used to regularly here opposition fans in the outer say "They only make noise when Ablett gets it"

I'm obviously way too over-sensitive about the criticism of Menzel's lack of tackling. Yet there are people who criticise him on this board + I get very over-protective of my Menzel.

I blame the removal of the drinking area and full-strength beer.

There was nothing quite like standing in the outer as a kid with some dude half-cut screaming at the top of his lungs.

Also, the cheer squad 'leaders' are quiet as church mice. Simplify the chants, make 'em loud and boo every decision that doesn't go our way. Easy.

Apparently Menzel is on a base of $180k, while the average senior player earns $371k, yet Menzel was asking $250k p/year over three years.

Menzel is the only AFL player to kick a goal in every quarter. Geelong was damn fortunate to keep him + I hope + pray Menzel continues to rock those goals for the rest of the year + years to come! If any player deserved to have their determination, grunt, self-discipline + courage rewarded, it's Menzel!

For anyone who is interested why the Blicavs touched behind wasn't looked at properly just before half time.... the camera man on the goal line in the forward pocket disappeared somewhere, hence no decent footage, it better have been diarrhea!

If you read the article, it's what they were told by people close to Menzel. Hopefully there are bonuses when he performs. Also have to consider that he had a lot of time out of footy, so doesn't have the same experience as a player who's had an uninterrupted career.

I was very lucky to be there at the game and it was more of a payback and a sly dig at the ferals for their chants over the last two years when they were winning games.

The problem is no more standing room to feral it up. Those were the days.
Now that people sit in the same seat all year round don’t want to embarrass themselves in front of there new found friends around them.

I'm actually devo that the Gary Ablett Terrace is being replaced with seating. It's such great value to be there, right in the thick of those with well hydrated vocal chords. End of an institution.

My friend had a very sour, feral Pies fan next to him + she was hurling abuse at every Geelong supporter. The Geelong peeps in front of us really stuck it to her when we grabbed the lead + she didn't even make it through to half way of Q4.

The quietest home crowd of any sport that I’ve encountered. Periods of near silence in most games. Contrast with Cats fans at the ‘G or Docklands is huge. Is it a country politeness or nervous nelly thing? Always been mystified by it.

Yeah it's weird. The only time I've heard it absolutely deafening was the 2013 qf v freo.
