Autopsy 14 point win vs GWS/Umpires

When they paid that free kick against Warner for blocking Briggs, that's just umpires looking for an excuse to pay GWS a free kick.
That was really weird. Chad and Briggs just had a dust up. It wasn't a block. Chad was trying to go one way,Briggs the other. They collided and had a push and shove. Should have been play on

  • Much better, played a great 3 quarters (apart from deplorable goal kicking). 2nd qtr was average but despite everyone always talking 4 qtr efforts, often 3 can be enough these days as long as the one you lose isn't disgraceful.
  • Only negative was Melican's silly little moment. He's easily our best defender so not only is it going to hurt losing him in the middle of an injury crisis.....we finally got a functioning and competitive forward line and now we're going to have to break that up by moving Hamling or Francis back...so the knock on of that one stupid swinging arm will hurt 2 areas of the ground.
  • Given Lloyd and Rampe plenty of whacks so have to give credit back when it's earned. Today they played how leaders should, Rampe in particular was excellent, completely shut down Toby (who's looking semi cooked himself - but don't want to take away from Rampe who was great).
  • Hamling played a good role negating Taylor. Francis & Wicks really good too. Whitfield probably got away from Jordon a little, but when we'd nearly kicked away another victory and the season with it, he stepped up bigtime in the last qtr...kicked the 2 most important goals of the game when everyone else was shitting themselves.
  • Warner and Heeney played the superstar games that probably was the difference between the 2 sides when all was said and done.

David Zita expects Melican to get 2-3 matches depending on impact which makes sense to me with the rubric

There shouldn’t have been a need to defend Jmac today, it’s baffling.

I didn’t raise the issue with what about insert player , you did then you name 5, now a 6th in Blakey, so you lost the Jmac argument and want to talk about Blakey ok cool.

I said **** it put Blakey up for trade when looking for a name of someone with a good reputation who would get you a haul not quite the same as get him out of my sight. Also said it once

He was ok today, the first few goals where because he gave his opponent space though, but again like I already said he looked more dangerous being able to drift up the ground where he can use his elite skills, because again I have always said he has skills. He was good in the last few minutes too, but his defensive work deep is shithouse, I stand by that , he sat on the deck on his arse late while Stringer got up and ran off.
lol no point engaging further on it if its going to be forced semantics of whats been said.

We agree on the last paragraph on Blakely better used off wing or further forward

I forgot how good that winning feeling was. Team played like they wanted it all game, their effort was great and unrewarded at the contests by the umpiring.

I'm not quite sure how we managed to win given our poor kicking and their 4 extra players on field. It didn't feel the Giants played that bad but those circumstances suggest they did.

Melican out again is frustrating because he could genuinely be a top 5 key defender if not for his injury troubles stunting his development over the years and now a suspension.

3 centre bounces that went out of the circle to the Giants advantage not called back.

Incredible.
Really just have to throw tradition out the window at this point and get rid of the bounce as the umpires are just getting worse and worse at it. At most just have it at the start of the game or each quarter.

Centre clearances are such an important part of the game you can't compromise them for no reason.

He played mids today. Changing in there with Heens. Eff he is fast. He burned off two of their faster players then offloaded, then got it back at one stage.it lead to a goal.

I forgot to thank James Jordan and Dane Rampe as well as Jake Lloyd. They were great today.
I hope that I'm wrong but I think Cleary did a hamstring late 4th qtr chasing that kick to the boundary line. He went for his hamstring straight away & was seen limping post-game. As for coaching, I think Cox has coached very well all year. In this game, he recognised that the GWS strength is pressure, turnover & speed. So, what did he instruct the team? Reduce the handball & play on less. To be a game out of the 8 with the players we have out & the teams that we've played not a bad effort in my opinion.

They have got to stop playing Blakey as a shutdown defender. I would play him mids or forward

Cox has coached well all year? Nope. Last week, he needed to make moves in the third and didn't. Grundy was stuffed and he still had him on ball. Not good. This week he was very good. Developed the game from the selection table. Made good moves in game. Cleary went to the mids in the third and made a difference.

Three players were vomiting at half-time last week. I think you'll find that there was another reason for our drop off after half-time that the club chose not to use as an excuse.

I am sure there were several players on either side committing last week. Ove 27° with about 50%humidity. Very uncomfortable and not good for playing footy.

**** the AFL, **** the Giants, **** the umpires and **** the sport as a whole. But **** do I love this club when they dig deep against all odds like they did.

Will be without Melican for the next couple and can guarantee we won't get a free kick for another few weeks after Heeney gave the cheating campaigners a mouthful.

100%

how good did he look up the ground today, he is elite
