Tom Mitchell, recovering from a broken leg and now a Hawk until the end of 2023

Cotch will probably get the 3 i would have thought but Titch is in the votes again for sure.

Tom’s overall influence and his stats were insane. But getting the 3 points in a losing side is tough. For mine hopefully he is currently 3, 3, 3 but realistically he is 3, 3, 2.

Everytime we lose a game commentators will be questioning Mitchell's impact as if he isn't carrying our entire midfield (it's not a bad midfield but it all falls apart without him), it's ridiculous. He was far and away the best player on the ground, Cotchin was fine but it's true.

Radio commentators agree with you.

Votes:
Tom Mitchell (Hawthorn) 9
Alex Rance (Richmond) 8
Trent Cotchin (Richmond) 8
Bachar Houli (Richmond) 7
Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) 7

Could he possibly have 9 votes after 3 rds?

Honestly should have the 3 votes in the first 3 games so far. At worst maybe only the 2 today because we lost, but certainly deserves 3.

Without a single bit of hyperbole Mitchell is currently the best mid in the game in 2018. Battling it out with Buddy for best player in the comp. Emphasis on 2018. This is just based on 2018.

Vs Richmond:

Most disposals
Most Tackles
Most Clearances

Kicks goals.

But I guess he's not damaging.

Would be nice if he had more support in the middle. JOM is building nicely and BB having a great year. Need another inside accumulator. Cousins put his hand up at BHH

Setting a high bar for himself.

Adding goals to his game, and getting a lot of possessions in the forward half of the game. Becoming more damaging.

Wonder if people will be disappointed if he ever only gets 30 touches a game.

Sometimes I feel slightly let down when he hasn't had 30 at half time to be honest.

Completely agree, and have wondered how more aren't talking about this outside of this board... hands down the best mid in the competition right now, and to be honest probably having the strongest start to a season of any mid ever... he AVERAGES something like 44 touches, 10 clearances, a goal and 8 or so tackles... he's basically two A-grade mids every week.

Posters like TheFourPillars reckon we are relying on Tommy too much and the coach may not be so pleased with his output. Not because he is playing so well, but because he is getting the ball so much that we become too predictable.

But as JOM gets more on board, that may change.

Still, he has been huge!

Hard to argue with Eddie Munster getting the 10 - may not have won on pure stats, however, was hugely influential in a winning side.

Still rather have Mitchell week in week out - will be one hellava midfield for years to come once one or more of the young guys step up

Rance?

Yes, he played the Lonergan role vs Hawthorn perfectly (intercept the hoofs into the forward line - when will Clarko learn ffs), but really, I'd have their wingmen in the votes over Rance.

Cotchin was BOG, Mitchell 2, Houli 1.
