In my opinion he has the greatest upside of any player on our list. That doesn’t mean he will be the best player on our list. He probably won’t be - there are surer bets - though he has massively defied the probabilities already in his career.

His talents are completely unteachable and rare. If he continues at the rapid rate of improvement displayed this season and can become a midfield or forward-of-centre threat, there is almost no limit to his upside. Imagine if we could get him streaming out of the middle.

Even if he remains as is, he’s an exciting talent with AA potential at half back. Given the coaches votes to date, he’d have to be 1st or 2nd in our B&F to date.

The most noticeable thing about CJ the past two weeks perhaps more is the opposition clubs attempt to get his direct player to run away from the ball so he won't be there and in the game.

When that happens and is a game plan you are onto something.

He only came back into the Adelaide game when then realised they had to win the game so everyone had to make an attempt to score even his opponent.

BTW why is bigfooty in American and they want to change every 's' to a 'z' eg: realise?

That’s because he is one of the only players in the side who is damaging - especially so with Sicily out

Probably your browser language settings. Open settings on your browser and (assuming Chrome) use the search bar to search language and change it to UK English

Media is going to start focusing on how far he runs now. It will be like franklin's arc when he was at hawthorn
Perhaps. But what's in our favour is that the way he plays and his back story is very favourable for the "AFL narrative". Despite what we think might set him back for the colours he's wearing, he's set to get away with as much as Sicily hasn't been able to.

We could potentially have both the AFL's hero and villain playing in the same third of the field.

The biggest improvement in his game has been his kicking on the run. He was still struggling with it pre season. He definitely visibly slows down befor kicking it. Exciting prospect. He is still learning the defensive side of the game but these sins are forgiven for what he provides offensively

There’s a nice piece in this week’s Saturday Paper on CJ.

I’m a subscriber so it may be paywalled. I think there’s an option to access a free article though. If not...

Quite a bit about his background (his dad’s a pastor so challenges of church vs junior footy on Sundays) and that he was billeted with Russell Greene (also a #29) for a year or two. RG speaks very highly of him. Sounds like a rippingly good person as well being an excitement machine.
