This was probably part of the teams deeper strategy. A double blind ! They know the opposition can hear the open mic messages.

Gordon is one of the leading receivers so the opposition would giving him extra coverage.Freeing up the other WR's.

Then to say he is not trying is a blind to get the defense to reduce their coverage of him and free him up.

The Dragons are all over this !
