I think what Adelaide are saying about wanting pick 2 is directed to the AFL. That is, we know the offer only gets us a pick around 20, but given that we are no good and are losing one of our best players can you please bump it up a bit when you apply your magic FA formula. The reality is that Crouch’s trade value before his coke escapade was around pick 10-15.
Afterwards you’re looking late 1st, early 2nd.
In this case the contract that StK have offered Crouch, that he has accepted, looks like valuing him pretty accurately in terms of a compo pick.
In regards to your last sentence, StKilda has shown over many years that we’re a club that gets deals done. It would actually reflect horribly on Adelaide to match an offer for a player who they want out of the club for the sake of 5 positions in the draft.

That's Missy HigginsWho is the squeeze?
not quite,we have the situation looming that essendon and hawthorn have this year,we must use a first rounder this year or next(i think)id much rather use that on a taranto, merrett or bing, you can debate crouch vs treloar with all his issues, the beauty of crouch is that he is a freebie, very happy to part with players, perhaps with a 2nd or future 2nd,but that pick 15 is valuable for flexibility going forwardSurely they work on a deal before anything goes public
Doesn't it make sense for Adelaide to let him leave via FA (band 2 would be pick 20) then we trade them 14, Dunstan, a late shitty pick for pick 20 and a pick before 40.
We lose 14, Dunstan, some piece of sh*t pick
We gain Crouch, 20 and something close to 40
Good business all round.
he's a poor man's kane lambertIs Higgins only a small forward, or can he play midfield?
Was a forward-mid as a junior and I'd expect that's where he sees himself playingIs Higgins only a small forward, or can he play midfield?
why not both?Would prefer Treloar to Crouch.
he's more a 'clever' kick. very good within 40m. not so much further out. set shot not exceptional but ideally you want him in the 50-70m zone where he can accumulate and hit up targets. kicking to king, membrey, ryder, marshall and then running to rove with butts...in short your forward line will be fukin awesomeCan Higgins kick
My mistake I thought it was Queen Elizabeth the 2nd.Looks a little like Constable in the right light. Make of that what you will?
DONE!!!HB: Clark - Payne - Coffield
RK: Ryder - Steele - Crouch
CR: Hill - Gresham - Jones

Can't believe we got our bookends for the next 10 years in that draft. In the year Bont flew up the boards, Hugh Goddardwas playing so well as an under-ager that it was expected he would go top 3 the following year also. Amazing what a year can do.PLAYERCARDSTART45Hugh Goddard
