Me? Is there a team with worse youth than the Eagles?

They are the worst team since University.
The eagles youth really isnt as bad as people make out, we just cant get the senior guys into form enough to make the games competitive, to allow the kids to show their stuff. Cant expect a team with 9-10+ teenagers on the field each week to be very competitive in the AFL

DGB is just in a tough situation where the guy playing his preferred position is the best in the AFL.

He's a floating third tall but he isn't going to displace Sicily. Is still developing his body and tools but will be a handy player. Just a slowburn. He's been shoehorned into a KPD role because he can't displace Sicily but he doesn't have the body for it yet.

He's not going anywhere.

We have 7 who are 20 or under who play either some or most games. Another 4 or 5 between 20 and 22 who play most or all games.

We also got panned for ditching a heap of our older players last year.

If all your senior players were fit, you wouldnt even be playing your kids.

The guys between 20-22 are a hell of a lot better than the guys 18-19, and your senior players arent constantly underdone due to injuries.
If we had a healthy list I dont see a world where we arent playing at least 6-7 kids each week. Ginbey, Hewett, Long, Hough, and Culley would all be basically guaranteed most games, with a few others scattered to rotate them through the WAFL.
The main difference is we would be competitive and at the very least not bottom 4
Unfortunately the Eagles arent in a position to just dump all their 30+ guys, in a year or 2 yes, they could, but not yet

Sicily is only 28, do you see a world where DGB leaves to find a club where he can play his natural role? Im sure he wouldnt fancy playing VFL for a few more years waiting for Sicily to retire. He might make a decent KP forward/defender, but then its maybe another year before hes getting regular games.
I dont know how much ego he might have, having been a former top 10 pick but id imagine that would play into where he thinks he should be in his career vs where he currently is

North fans on BigFooty are very quick at labelling young blokes from other teams as souds and equally labelling their own kids as best youth ever.

We hear the same old s**t every single March.
Which is ironic considering how desperate they are for a PP...

Reminds me of richmond supporters, they suddenly new more than anybody after they had win.

Old mate here can’t have looked at the ladder recently.
Bit tough to be throwing stones at north and Eagles when the hawks sit only one rung above them.
Clarko and the “destination club” days are long gone …

Especially from North fans who told us Comben was gonna be a star but we needed patience because he is skinny so to give him time to bulk up

Double standards?

Comben was a speculative pick who was always going to be a boom or bust selection (depending on whether his body could hold up to the rigors of AFL level)

Can't really compare him to DBG who was a high draft pick who also sadly has battled his issues with injuries

Anyhow every rebuilding club supporter base talk up their kids

Is it?

Can people not allowed comment on a players' performance if their own team has s**t players?

Might as well shut the entire site down, in that case.
That s**t is easily the worst part of this site. When people down play and act like you have no idea just because the team you support happens to be s**t. Always has been absolute bullshit when people pull that out.

Shut up mate, you go for Freo..

Sorry, force of habit.

:p;)

True but talking up Ur kids and being aggro about it are two different things.

Logan McDonald is touted as a young KPF with huge potential but has been goalless 3 times this year with 4, 5 and 6 disposals. Had half a dozen goalless games last year too, mostly with 6 or fewer disposals. His 1st year had some ooor games too.

So 3 seasons in as a key forward having been a key forward as a kid and he still struggles.

But if a defender playing his 3rd game ever forward has a bad game he is clearly not cut out as a footballer.

Correct 👍

In other words Logan has shown way more potential but neither of them should be judged too harshly this early in their careers.

Very few KPP’s are reaching their max in the first few years of their career.

In other words after 3 years Logan still has similar bad games as DGB has after 3 games.

But Swans fans think he is worth pick 1 if he wants a trade to WCE.

I hope DGB makes it, but from a Hawthorn list mangament and recruiting perspective, it's actually not a huge loss if he doesn't.

We used pick 6 on him, which has been our highest selection in about 15 years. But less than 12 months later we picked up Jai Newcombe in the mid season rookie draft.

If you consider Jai as the pick 6 from 2020 you could just about argue we got a steal. Probably goes top 3 in a redraft.
