Things changed when we discovered YouTube and social media. The content is much better than any other club in the land and the choice has never been better. I personally love our clubs attitude in putting tonnes of resources into our media productions. This is where Trigg's small-minded approach - i.e. feeding info to the local rag to control the local message - changed when Fagan arrived. He changed our media operations by using national media outlets - namely The Age - to go with any key information, and also funded "AFC Media" so we create and control our own news. And as we've found out, any fears that our message wouldn't get to the local market were proven false because Rucci and The Advertiser just quote from AFC Media articles/clips anyway!
Trigg and co were told that this was the way to go in the mid 2000s but ignored it, happy to be the big fish in a small pond. We got positive press printed for the fanbase because the club leaked to them. Now, people don't go to The Advertiser for Crows news.
Rucci is annoyed because the old journo way of sucking up to to someone in order to get information from them is obsolete - just as the print media itself is now cooked.
As a fan, yes it can sometimes be annoying that we don't comment on stuff like Jake Lever - but you know what, it's for the better. Some things just need to be kept quiet for the club to get the best outcome.
The only thing that sucks is whoever runs out twitter account is a touch lame but I can deal with that.
