Essendon News:

ESSENDON V COLLINGWOOD – SOLD OUT

Public ticket sales are now sold out for our Round 24 game against Collingwood. We are expecting a large crowd and encourage our reserved seat members to fill the stands in our final home game of 2023.

DARCY PARISH – 150 GAMES

Essendon midfielder Darcy Parish will play his 150th AFL game this weekend against Collingwood. The Geelong Falcons product was selected by Essendon with pick No.5 in the 2015 National Draft and quickly became a mainstay in the Bombers’ lineup.

Parish has established an impressive resume across his eight seasons, with 2021 being a standout year where he earned All Australian selection, was named the runner-up at the Crichton Medal, while also taking home the Anzac Day Medal, Yiooken Award and Tom Wills Medal.

This season, Parish has played 17 games, averaging 30.9 disposals, 15.2 kicks and 7.8 clearances per game.

THANK YOU MEMBERS ROUND

As we approach the final game of the home and away season we turn the focus to our members and thank them for their support for the 2023 season.

Members are the life blood of the Essendon Football Club. They give purpose and bring passion.

ESSENDON DON THE SEATBELT

The Essendon Football Club is proud to join forces with the TAC supporting road safety for the Round 24 blockbuster against Collingwood on Friday night.

The Bombers will recognise the work done by the TAC throughout the Round 24 match highlighting the importance of road safety in Victoria.

The iconic red sash on the Bombers’ guernsey will incorporate a seatbelt design to remind Australians that seatbelts save lives.

Collingwood News:

Josh Daicos - 100 games

Collingwood midfielder Josh Daicos is set to play his 100th AFL game tonight. The 24-year-old was drafted to Collingwood at Pick 57 in the 2016 Draft under the Father/Son Rule. Since making his debut in Round 22 of the 2017 season, Daicos has gone on to kick 56 goals.

March to the G'

Collingwood will be hosting the 'Magpie Nest Big BBQ' at the AIA Centre prior to the March to the G'. The event will kick off at 5pm with several fan zone events.

All food will be provided by Collingwood's community partner Coles and all funds from the event will go towards the Club's Magpie Nest program which supports people experiencing homelessness and the disadvantaged.

The March to the G' will depart the AIA Centre at 6.30pm.

AFL were trying to get cute thinking we'd do a 2022.
They also thought Essendon would be playing for a finals spot which completely backfired after their 126 point loss. Now practically a dead rubber. Only point of interest will be if Collingwood rest most of their senior players, lose the game to finish second and play PA at the G.

Essendon can still make the finals

Collingwood ending up second on the ladder would probably be best case scenario for them. Would likely face Port at the MCG which I do not see them losing.

I expect Collingwood to win this but after being embarrassed last round, Essendon shocking everyone is not out of the question.
Bit of a catch 22 for us. Essendon game could be seen as an opportunity to play into better form before the finals. However doing so gives us a more difficult QF opponent with no home ground advantage and pushes the path to the GF through a Gabba visit.

Ooof this could get ugly for the Bombers if they have officially checked out

Win the QF and forget about the Gabba.
If they want the flag they need to perform against the best in September

Impossible. It would have to be 20 goal win and 20 goal loss to GWS. Better chance winning Powerball

Similar to Collingwood’s chance of finishing third. Just won’t happen but media discuss it as a possibility lol
Haha yeah I paid zero attention to percentage haha. That will teach me 😂😂

We’ve lost at least 3 games in the last 5 H&A games of the 2023 season and no premier in the last 10 years has done that, so I say we just throw in the towel like the Cats and get everyone in for surgery in preparation for 2024.

1st or 2nd finish and a loss in the first final will see the same path to Gabba.
