The kiwis lack one opening batter, a spinner, and anyone who can bowl over 140 clicks.

Apart from that they look ok.

They have all of those things. Only problem is their other opener is bog standard and their two decent leg spinners aren't trusted to play tests and their genuine quick got injured early on in this game

Aside from his incessant encouragement for his bowlers Paine is quite good at banter tactics as he rarely talks directly to the batsmen, it's usually to others about them; "Hey Smithy, how often do you change you stance during an over?" "Yeah right, but don't you re-take your guard?" etc. etc.

I recall in an ODI years ago Dwayne Bravo asking Paine: "Hey mon, can you shut it, you're giving me a headache!"....

If the umpire saw it clearly then the responsibility moves to the batsman.
