List Mgmt. Best young key forward in the game

It's amazing that 2 players can be on the same ammount of goals yet one of them shouldn't be a forward and the other is the best young forward in the game 😂😂
And the one who should be in defense has far more score involvements. Go figure

I still think Naughton is the best young key forward in the game.
Still having nightmares that we chose Stephenson over him. At least the Dogs had the foresight to make him a forward.

Whilst also offering much more at ground level, double the goal assists, much more defensively (was ranked 4th a few weeks back for tackles inside 50, not just for talls but for anyone) gets much further up the ground as a CHF at times. Is being asked to ruck and is in a shocking forward structure where some weeks Bev plays him one out.

There’s a reason Naughty was number 1 in marks inside 50 & contested marks last season with English and Bruce alongside him, and that’s now dropped off this year with zero support. He’s found other ways to score this year not relying on contested marking (whereas last year he only kicked 1 goal out of his nearly 50 from general play) keep a general partner there for him to split the defence and he’ll go close to 80 goals. Not a forward? Lmao

He’s also 5 months older than King, played more games but also spent a whole season in defence

Quite clearly it’s Naughty & Max 1 & 2 right now with Lewis a level below but coming very very quickly (also older than the other two) and Ben King & Allen will be back in the equation once they’re fit

Whether you think Naughton is one of the best young key forwards or s**t & overrated is kinda irrelevant - anyone who suggests he goes back clearly hasn’t watched us play our other options are terrible (until Jamarra & Darcy come on) and we are completely dysfunctional when he’s not there.

It’s not happening and I’m sure has not even been contemplated at this point in time

Charlie is very short for a Key forward. I've met and stood next to him. Hes just a freak of nature athletically

He’a got long arms for his heigh too. Standing reach is realistically what matters not height we just discuss height due to standing reach not being available.

he no longer feels young

only 9ish momths younger than mckay so perhaps by end of season he cam be crossed off and graduated to the regular pool

Has played 8 less games than Allen. Still not made it to 50 games.

Max King has more games than him.

I would think most Hawk supporters see him as definitely in the young stage of his career.

Yeah how strange that the commentators would talk up the 21 year old kicking 5 goals and then the 22 year old also kicking 5 goals, it's as if it's their job to discuss these things. They never do that, only for Dogs games.

Should be reserved for top 8 teams only. Better yet, don't even have commentators if there isn't a top side playing.
Capital idea.

Can we revamp it to include the top 8 sides too?

Threads turned ridiculous.

Where do you rate the next gen coming through.

Thilthorpe, McDonald and Ugle Hagan.

All have had slow starts while showing glimpses.

Will any of these guys go on to be great?

McDonald yes Thilthorpe probably a serviceable 500 career goal kicker.

Ugle-Hagan either a total bust or not cut out to play a KPF role (probably the latter really, better off playing as a flanker tbh)

Serviceable 500 career goal kicker LOL.
Only 62 players have kicked over 500 goals in the history of VFL/AFL.

Loving your takes Elmer.

What makes you think Ugle Hagan will be a total bust? He hasn't shown a heap at AFL level yet but I feel like a breakout game isn't too far away.

Well the pre AFL hype for a couple of years suggested that he was the closest thing to a Buddy Franklin the draft system has produced.

Not he fault at all, hyping him using such an extremely unfair and realistic comparison to a generational champion in Buddy Franklin.
