So assuming we said we want established players (see Heeney, see Florent) or players of the ilk to replace Joe (see Blakey, see McCartin) is where the proposed players were brought up without them actually being thrown up.

More than likely.

More than likely.

People (amateur journalists, uninformed "ïn the know" people on Facebook groups) just guessing names when the news came through about what we allegedly wanted. That's usually where it all came from.

Essendon BigFooty a few years ago completely made up a rumour that grew enough legs to garner interest from the then Trade Radio. That's how much s**t can get through the cracks

5, 9 and McCartin/Florent is probably fair I guess, Still think the Swans win that deal tbh.

As an Essendon poster said, I don't see how this deal gets done now. Frankly, I hope we can keep Joe and rekindle his love for the game by keeping him on the park. With the former Hawthorn employed fitness guy now in charge at Essendon, wemay approach our (and Joe's) injury history completely different to the way we have in the past.

So the first and obvious question any serious radio host would ask is as follows...

Matthew, have you been sitting at the trade table ? Are you on the EFC board or hold a senior administrative role ?
No ?

So by saying you know these details, the only way you could know this for sure is by someone at the trade table or board actually telling you. Otherwise you would be speculating rather than knowing , right ?

So knowing you are a media guy, someone at the table or board level told the media all about the trade details. Correct ? By accident was it ?

Thanks for telling the world the EFC trade table deliberately spills all details straight to the media.

Lloyd is guessing like the rest of the media.
He has a high opinion of himself and his worth to the EFC when in fact it’s quite the opposite

Why would they ask that? The entire premise of this trade radio thing is built on little snippets of information that are provided that joe public doesn't have access to. They've got hours to fill up to keep Hutchy and the advertisers happy, Gill too as he'd rather people talking about the game than talking about soccer/cricket/basketball/whatever. Whoever told him had cause to believe it would end up in the public forum so they've done so for some reason or they don't care about that. There would be dozens of people aware of what's being said in the discussions either directly or 2nd hand. Essendon, Sydney, TLA, maybe Joe himself and then anybody they'd told. There's no cone of silence here, the real question is why are you so upset?

Onya Lloydy.

It's all hands on deck at the Essendon Informtion Ministry at the moment in an attempt to sway the narrative to get Adrian that Superdeal.

- Lloydy's working Trade Radio.
- Jonny Ralph and Jay Clark doing Robbo's bidding at the Essendon Gazette.
- The Wisp working the morning SEN shift
- Goddard chipping in on various outlets.

and then there's twitter as well.

Ah, it's like a beautiful symphony.

If you had have been listening you would have heard Lloydy say "I asked that question around people at Essendon"

Why would any Media person ask another Media person who their source is?

You really have no idea.

Don't be jealous.

If the clubs are still talking then most likely something gets done. If the club wants mature players and/or prospective key forward like for like, and Sydney won’t part with theirs (understandably but also interestingly) then a third party will need to be involved.

I suspect that is where the ringing around fits in that led to the mason cox story. We weren’t trying to headhunt him in particular, but rather shake every tree and see what was loose that might work.

So far no further rumours to that effect though and if nothing does come loose then keeping Joe is a distinct possibility. Took him a long time to even request the trade and even then no one really announced it, even his player manager has been extraordinarily quiet.

Feels like both parties were leaving themselves room to quietly not go through with it, should it work out that way. If it hadn’t been dragged into the open by a circus in search of an act it would probably have stayed quiet.

a three way with Carlton seems plausible.

No it isn't. Read the transcript. Claimed he knows Sydney's offer is 5 and 25, and that is somehow far too low or EFC.
So who informed him (the media) of this ?
Are the AFL aware that the EFC trade table is deliberately telling the media details of their negotiations ?

I know Lloyd is no Einstein, but with the timing do you think it is by accident ? or he's just trying to feather his own nest by bullshytting ?

You expected investigative journalism and the hard hitting stories on trade radio?

This is the thing. Joe is under contract and Essendon don't want to sell him. EFC have suggested what might make them agree to a trade. To my mind it's up to Sydney to come to Essendon with an offer which meets the criteria otherwise they can't really want Joe that much.

Why would the AFL care? They’re the ones that set up the media circus we call trade radio, they want drama and leaks and “journalism”. That’s how they stay on the front page.

You think AFL want to stop AFL.com from speculating on trades?

You have much to learn bollox

Please, please keep him Essendon.

The lols will be glorious when he does a Patton next year and signs out after round 10.

It might seem that way but I think Dodoro would be on the phone just as often as Sydney’s people. Even if it ends up being two separate trades, we find something to spend pick 5/? on and once we have that then do the deal with Sydney before ontrading for whatever else we find. One won’t happen without the other being ready to go though.

We all know Matthew Lloyd isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but why would you complain about a lowball offer when you don't want to trade him?
When your preference is keep him, you still complain about getting a lowball offer?

If you really didn't want to trade JD then you would stoked that the Swans aren't making a worthwhile offer.
