Could just delist him and take a punt on another kid. Richards is turning 24 so not like he's a teenager
No, but they took him for a reason, so clearly think he has some attributes. Have to see what happens from here.

This current club/team under Fly will never delist a contracted player (based on performance).

It’s a dog act. Our culture is too strong to do that type of crap.

Is it worse than forcing a contracted player to be traded out?

Also that player will receive their 2nd year pay for free instantly so it's actually pretty good for them.

Richard’s is a def head scratcher I agree. A late pick but mm.

That whole draft was a bit of a head scratcher for mine. Aside from Ed.

Looking forward to the future second though, thanks tankers!

It is more salary cap management than anything.
Re Rookie them as the contracted player will be in your cap regardless

Ryan?

I was aghast at the idea of taking Ryan with our first, would have preferred Cowan with our second and am trying to convince myself we took Ryan instead because we had them close-ish but could gain a future second if we left Cowan for the tankers.

I hope like hell Ryan makes it, but am yet to be in any way convinced.

I’m a critic- they were completely out of their depth.
Lets not allow their gender to Insulate them from the criticism- they were just not upto it.
And BTW how can people be sexist if they like Kelly Underwood but not like these women.
As a general rule VFL commentators of both genders are bagged.

Lol if it was men commentators they would be called muppetts, w*nkers, flogs, fsticks or other.

Not quite as polite as these chicks/women...ah the sjw crusade makes one laugh.

Not reading well for the future AFL side then? Dearth of talent?
We’ve lacked access to top picks for awhile due to our trading history and finishes. Most of the kids we have are speculative late picks, aside from macrae who even as a late teens pick isn’t guaranteed. Allan and Ryan far too early. But we do lack up and coming top shelf kids. We have a Couple of role players at best

And to be fair the one top 5 pick we’ve had could have both his legs removed and still be too good for VFL

Yes we have lacked the cream picks but usually the odd later pick shines through here and there.

Doesn't read well unfortunately but plenty of time for some of the 1st and 2nd years to get there. 3rd, 4th and 5th year players would have to be having the questions asked.

Hine doesn't rate this draft so doubt we are doing any drastic trimming this year.

It’s the elite mids that are going to be hardest to find without access to top 10. We can use trading etc but our currency won’t be to high. Wrights got some work to do on this front, there are hidden gems no doubt. We need a draft like port had in 2018

By scheduling an inconsistent season at suburban grounds and having parts of the season coincide with finals? By creating a toxic workplace for women? By having a season that is a blip of the men's? By paying women significantly less than their male counterparts to the point where all are working second jobs?

That's a brief, brief overview of why the AFL has not done all in its power to support and promote the women's game.

You want the women to be paid on par with men when they generate a net loss for the competition as a whole?

Fair dinkum how about earn it first.

Yep, the male vfl commentators have regularly been savaged, and called “guys”…but saying “these women” is sexist now. No wonder there’s such a backlash against outrage culture.

Which would come out of our salary cap, so why would we delist a player we'd be paying for anyway? To take a punt on another kid you say?

Pure silliness

They could be paid more than what they are now. The highest paid AFLW is still on more than 10x less than her male equivalent.
