Patrick Cripps

Lyons tagged him.all game, pretty obvious now his last few weeks were nothing to do with the tags and more about the mental battle knowing his coach was about to be sacked.

He has been getting tagged for years and never had poor games like the last few weeks
Love watching him play. One of the few reasons to watch football these days. Would love to see him playing finals football.

Rubbish.

He’s much better than Kernahan.
WTF?

Sticks was one of the greatest players of all time. If Cripps has a similar career, then he'll have done bloody well. He has more all-round talent, but it's bullshiit to say he is "much better". He's still gotta put the runs on the board.

In addition to being in the AFL Hall of Fame, Kernahan was named captain & CHF of Carlton's team of the century
And just like Cripps, Sticks was one of the best players in the comp at the age of 23/24

387 games (Glenelg 81-85 + Carlton 86-97)

Rep All Australian: 1985, 1986, 1988

Been a great player in a horrible team
If Carlton get some help around him, he will improve again with more time and space
False

He would be just as good. No better. No worse. Exactly the same.
He'd just have better teammates alongside him and so Carlton would be a better side

Cripps' main strength is his bulldozing clearance work, so having better teammates alongside him would not improve his game one iota.
It's a total fallacy that players are better or worse in good/bad teams. They're just the same.

Harry McKay would look like a better player if Cripps had more support because he'd receive better supply from the midfield. He'd receive a few more lace-out passes on the **** and kick a couple of sodas per game

A guess would say he was off Bolton. Hence the huge performance once he left
In his post-game interview he made a point in saying that winning is everything. A sneaky jab at Bolton who continuously made the point that winning wasn’t everything. He was happy with ‘progress’ and winning quarters.

He’s not perfect but who is?

I think he’s in the top 5 in the comp.

Was probably directed at a few posters who seemed to think today was some outlier, when gws and essendon games were the outliers.

38 n 4 is CERTAINLY the outlier!

38 and 4 is a hell of a combo of raw statistics. Last time I can think of someone doing 35 and 4+ is Dangerfield at the height of his powers with 36 and 4 in 2017 v the Dogs.

Coniglio went close with 36 and 3 last week. Neale had 33 and 3 last year v Carlton. Dangerfield has had a list of 'almost' for this particular stat - 36 and 3, 38 and 3, 34 and 4 in the past few years.

Yeah, another "almost" was Michael Walters in 2017 going 32 n 6

Question - is Cripps captain in Dochertys absence?

Shame on Carlton for being so ****
This guy deserves better
Cripps is a far better player than Nathan Jones, but there are similarities with their loyalty and dominance in such s**t sides. Of course I admire Jones for sticking with the Dees when we've been perpetually shithouse. I would never have blamed him for chasing success elsewhere at the end of his career. Cripps will be the same. Hard to see Carlton contesting for a flag within the next 5 years. And with the bash and crash style he plays and the fact he literally has to get 38 touches and 4 goals for his team to win, no one would blame him for chasing success elsewhere. Would be ironic to see him leave for the Eagles the way Judd left for Carlton. Such a shame this guy hasn't played finals and will unlikely play finals for most of his career.

No he's not. Today was an exception and he was excellent, but far too often he goes missing when the game is on the line. Part of the reason Carlton are where they are at on the ladder.
Did you get a concussion today or have you always been this clueless?

I'm genuinely shocked that a moderator sees it to be within his powers and duty to openly bully and belittle a poster for having an alternate opinion to his.
We're all waiting for your next insightful post on how cripps has been a disappointment and you decide to play the man and not the ball??!!
