Recommitted Bobby Hill [requested trade to Essendon but will be held to his contract]

Players shouldn’t be able to nominate one club..he wants to go to Melbourne why does he need to go to one club?

Good on GWS holding firm
Knew you wouldn't by sympathetic.

Surprised you're not in here blaming his girlfriend.

If it’s compassionate which it obviously wasn’t that compassionate as he let GWS know 3 days ago…he’s have been happy to go to any club

How dare Ladhams, Hickey and Taylor nominate Sydney. Can't believe they picked a club.

All players nominate 1 club at trade time, it's bullshit but don't pretend it's unique to this situation. Go flog up another thread, maybe go abuse Treloar's partner for daring to speak up again.

Respect for gws holding the man to their contract. More clubs should do this imo.

Force players to select a few clubs at a minimum to get a real market value.
Should be nominate a state. It's the simplest solution.

I don't blame GWS for keeping him. But I think it will end up being a bad move.

I'd imagine the contract offer they put to him next year might be used as toilet paper.

Just find it absolutely staggering that Hill's management didn't think about approaching GWS at any point in the past month to float this with them, instead of going the sneak attack with less than a week to go before the end of the trade period.

If you find it unbelievable, there is usually a very good reason for that.

This was a concocted plan between Young and Dodoro to go the sneak attack.

2 of the most untrustworthy characters in the biz.

Jason McCartney played it perfectly by ignoring them as their concocted story spun itself to a dead stop.

If I was Hill, I would be giving Young his marching orders first thing tomorrow morning if he honestly thought this was the best way to handle this.

Pies where Dumb to offer that Much and Dumb by GWS to Reject it
Why is it dumb?

Well done to Collingwood for identifying a player that would help their list and offering a decent value, and well done to GWS for asserting what we believe his value is, and holding onto him as a contracted player.

Unless you think you know more than the professionals, from your basement?

Did they and their managers shed crocodile tears in the media about how it's on compassionate grounds? Did they try to pull a swifty on their clubs over half way through the trade period whilst in contract?

Not even remotely good comparisons.

Whilst Bobby hill may be ‘worth’ a 2nd round pick.

he is a second round pick the giants would have put 4 years of development into by the time a future 2nd even arrives at the club.

Swapping him for a 2022 2nd round pick virtually sets them back 4 years.

unless You’re an elite level player, most only become true reliable contributors after that 4-5 year mark.

can underss as rand the reluctance to trade him, even for a fair offer.

Where did he say we'd get him? He only said *you'd* get nothing.

So, next year he’ll be open to all Victorian clubs? Not just Essendon, in that scenario?

Provided that a Victorian club came last, that is.

few variables there

According to Col, Hill's cousin plays for Essendon but didn't name who it was and he looked like he had been in the pub all afternoon.

Reckon this saga doesn't look bad on Essendon or GWS, but Hill himself as a player and bloke.

If he doesn't return to play for The Giants next year, the AFL should step him and deregister him for 2023, we will never see a repeat of the Cam McCarthy fiasco.

Kids needs to toughen up and put his big boy pants on, swallow his pride and play good footy for GWS than see what happens since.

Courtney Ugle plays for our VFLW side.

His cousin is Courtney Ugle, she was the inaugural captain of our VFLW team, and still in our leadership group and on all the merch. Been mentioned in a few articles this week.

Who knows, but if he does leave one thing is certain and that is GWS gets nothing, ala McCarthy.

Terrible Job by Him and his Manger

Giants also have 12 months to make him happy/convince him to stay, that is still a long time to change someone's mind.
