Yeah, I really don't know what all the fuss is about. Yes the guy was a great footballer but at the end of the day he is or was a self confessed drug addict. Regardless of how the media has written the story he is no role model for my kids!

Must have been such a hard life to deal with, being so good at football, good looking man who probably could have any girl he wanted, more money than he knew what to do with, gee, would drive anyone to drugs.

Such is life Ben....Get over it! You made your bed now lay in the thing!
Nobody's making a fuss. He fell over, hit his head and now the media's going nuts over it. But feel free to ignore those facts for your little personal attack/rant.

What are the stats for clean healthy 33 year olds just "falling over" at a drug rehab facility, so badly they need to be hospitalised, without having drugs in their system at the time?

Is Cousins really that clumsy?

Dunno.

However I do know of some stats relating to the levels of sensationalised, stereotypical crap reported in the mainstream media in relation to drugs.

The news came amid unconfirmed reports the confessed drug addict had again sought help at a specialist Perth clinic that treats drug addiction and psychological problems.

It was reported the 33-year-old hit his head and possibly the floor during a fall at the centre.

The incident left him with injuries to his neck and head, it was reported on thewest.com.au.

His condition at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital was last night described as stable.

For starters The Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital does in fact contain an alcohol and drug service programs.

It also contains:

There's far too much "allusion" in that article for my liking. It presents in the standard form that catches the attention of the emotional reactionary, atypical, mainstream media adherent.

Hope he's alright, similar thing happened to Josh Gibson a few years back, pretty sure it was at his house though.
Just a bit off topic, why did he move back to Perth? Melbourne seemed to have settled him, a lot.

be near his old man.

FWIW I saw Cousins at the WAFL grand final and he looked to be in fine form, only problem he had was fighting off the ladies.

I'm surprised News Ltd journos had any doubt about the story as they've probably had his phone hacked for years.

(See how easy it is to run an unsubstantiated smear on the basis of previous truth)

This should be set up on a city billboard in lights in order to be tattooed in to peoples consciousness's, but will unfortunately be lost on the masses of emotionally manipulated automatons that make up modern day society.

It never ceases to amaze me as to how many people start and finish their information collection with the daily musings of the advertising industry.

WTF ?

Surely it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that he hit his head at the rehab centre and then was subsequently admitted to the Charles Gardiner Hospital.

Here, Fairfax even explains it in simple terms for those who need a picture drawn for them.

Former West Coast Eagles star Ben Cousins is in hospital after apparently falling and hitting his head.

A Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital spokeswoman said the 33-year-old was in a stable condition after being admitted yesterday.

It is being reported that Cousins injured himself at a private psychiatric hospital in West Leederville. The hospital would not comment.

pretty sure he wouldn't consider himself a role model for your rugrats, and even more sure he didn't write any of this story himself either

No, I wouldnt imagine he would consider himself a role model. He seems to come across to me as the type of bloke who would accept what he's done, and i'm sure like I said he has made his bed and he will lay in it. Part of that will be these media beat ups and he knows that as soon as he looks the wrong way he'll be scrutinised for it.

Regardless of what you think, he has written the story himself by his previous actions over the years....That won't go away.

If a person even slightly bumps their head at work they are required to go to hospital for a mantatory check up. If he is at a clinic it would be the same, it doesn't matter if it was a bad hit or not, it is a precautionary measure

At least Fevola owned up and took responsibility for his actions and self-destructive behaviour and has turned his life around and become a decent member of society, Cousins is a narracist who thinks He's Australia's Keith Richards.

Fevola deserves respect and compassion, Cousins doesn't esp with news He's having a child.

Broken record. Other far more important issues in AFL, let alone the world. This guy needs to stop believing in his own hype and living like a rock star. He had his 15 minutes of fame documentary...party's over Benny boy.

Moving on.

The private psychiatric hospital /drug clinic he fell at does not contain a trauma department. He was transferred to the hospital after the incident.

You havent disproved anything.

Source!

Yer your right, that's probably how I would elect to hurt myself - pretty common practice.

Unless you've been an addict I guess you wouldnt know how you'd harm yourself....its not a very sensible thing to do at the best of times so I'm not sure theres a right way and a wrong way to go about it.

But self harm/drug issue seems a more logical conclusion than 100% accident with no drugs involved.

Calling me a liar?

The very same article you refer to

He fell at a clinic and is now in hospital.

Nowhere was it implied that the clinic was in the hospital.

Heres another source that repeats exactly what I said

Here is what you "said":

You are implying that he is in a drug rehab facility, and is under the influence of drugs.

Where is your proof?

A psychiatric facility serves a myriad of functions.

I dont need to prove anything. I will draw conclusions based on evidence available.

His track record speaks for himself, and a relapse of some description is a million times more likely than an unfortunate innocent mishap, where he just happened to be visting somebody and just happened to slip over so badly that he injured his head and neck and had to be hospitalised.

Those who want to believe in the tooth fairy are welcome to assume Cousins was just unlucky.

You can't even prove he was in a "drug rehab facility" in the first place, much less affected by drugs..

Am I supposed to honestly believe the absurd assumption that all Collingwood supporters are toothless dole bludgers?
