Season Over thought I'd do my part on my opinion on changes

Delist
P Stewart
Ah Chee
Carlile
Colquhoun
Krakouer (re rookie)

Rookies Delisted
Mitchell
One of Houston/Hewett from what I've gathered they've both improved but I like the idea of having one rookie pick live so pick one)

Trade table, would like to do one of these minimum, no more than 4 at an absolute maximum (in order of preference)

O'Shea - Top 45 pick or equivalent player
Lobbe - top 40 pick or equivalent player
Broadbent - Top 30 pick or equivalent player
Neade - Top 40 pick or equivalent player
Hartlett - Top 15 pick or equivalent player
Westhoff - Top 40 pick or equivalent
Young - Top 25 pick or equivalent
Trengove - top 20 pick or equivalent player

Only FA that I had any interest for when I browsed over the list was Mitch Brown from WCE

O'Shea would be lucky to be a 3rd or 4th rounder as a trade I would have thought.

Hewitt and Houston another year as rookie with the view to upgrading both in 2018. Both had massive improvement in second half.

Gone into the background a bit. Krak hasn't had nearly as many of those little standout moments this year that draw comment to how good his disposal can be.

I think we'll delist and *may* re-rookie.

Bonner has a few tricks up his sleeve, looks like he could be a star, let's see him one-on-one against a few harder sides first.

Can we do that with Krak? I thought maximum term for a rookie is 2 years hence why we upgraded Mitchell to senior list last year. Or does a delist reset the clock?

Because we will get sfa for him and hes more value to us then a third round pick

Still not a good enough reason.

It's like saying it's better to keep a c grade employee in my business because I don't have he heart to set them free!

or because your only likely immediate replacements are d graders or someone completely not qualified in which case it's a sound reason to stay on.

I imagine you would keep that C grader if you couldn't replace him with someone better though.

I think Krakouer is still versatile and cost effective enough to be a valuable member of the senior list next year. I've still got him in my best 22 for R1, 2017 at this stage. Even if he drops out of the 22, he'd arguably be top 25 or thereabouts and ideal depth for 2017.
Agree, has been ok to good this year. He seems more aggressive and is switched on most of the time. Upgrade please.

No. Because that C grader will do more damage than good to the team overall. C and D need to go, B's trained to be A's.

Never accept mediocrity

Realistically, how many A and B graders do you think are attainable over the space of this off-season?

I agree that Westhoff should be trade-bait, but there's no point in gutting our list only to replace such players with more C and D graders.

Now the story of a premiership winning club who lost everything.
And the one Bigfooty poster who had no choice but to waste about an hour going through this so she can righteously complain when we make many fewer cuts than this.

By Port list management standards, your methods are unconventional to say the least.

These are the kind of changes needed to add the talent needed and cure the malaise that has been evident since the preseason games. I'm expecting the disappointment from this season to follow through to the off-season period as well though.

Boomer will likely outperform Neade over the remainder of their careers but it's not about that as much as: is it really a long term solution to winning premierships as opposed to winning some games next year.

We have A that play like D, but the D we do have more often play like B

I'd prefer 85% from a 70% ceiling player, than the 10% Hartlett, westhoff and boak dished up this year

Yeah I'd say it is part of a long term strategy for winning premierships.

Mostly agree, except I'd trade Neade and Sam Gray instead of Ah Chee (neither have the X-factor to overcome their lack of height).
And I'd keep Butcher - as we'll get nothing for him, someone will just pick him as a DFA. He'd be on close to minimum wage and we have zero KPF depth.

Certainly we need to cut much deeper then we all know is going to happen.

This would all be well and good if you were taking over Port's list on an Xbox game, but in the real world, how does all of this happen? You've got us trading out three guys on long-term contracts. You've got us trading out three lifelong South Australians who have no reason to uproot their lives by agreeing to a trade interstate. You've got us delisting two guys who are contracted for the 2017 season.

I'd like to think we can do a Bernie Vince with Lobbe considering that he's an interstater who's spot in the best 22 is under serious doubt, we could probably find a buyer for Ah Chee if we wanted to although I think we'd be getting unders for him, but the rest won't happen. Hartlett, Hoff and Broadbent won't agree to go anywhere, and if anyone wants Butcher they'll probably wait it out for him to be available as a DFA.

I'm not even commenting on whether or not your suggested moves are a good idea, I'm just saying they're unrealistic.

Carlile and Toumpas would need to be paid out. We won't be allowed to do that, we're still on the AFL's financial life-support.
