“The draft pick would be nice to have but we’ve actually tracked him for two years as a player who can play inside-mid and has got a lot of scope to develop into an elite AFL midfielder.” - Mackie

Well take him without the pick 7 Mackie, you coward.
Pretty much verbatim of Dodoro

To be fair in this case i think hes being honest-geelong have been chasing him for a while. Not really his fault gc put 7 on the table is it.

If GC want to pay the majority of his salary still, I'm sure they would take him without P7.

Fairly certain that's Dodoro. Unless Mackie also landed exactly the same word track

Yeah that was Dodoro - this was what Mackie said:

“We’ve met with him, he’s a ripping kid. We feel like he’d be a great fit for us,” Mackie said.

“Hopefully in the next couple of days we know more, but we’ve interested in Jack for a long time - we’ve known about him for a long time, clearly since his draft year.

“We had some good intel off Gary Ablett when he came back and you track guys who aren’t playing or getting experience in the AFL side. Clearly through this year we’ve been wanting to add to our midfield.”

That was Dodoro you clown - imagine furiously bashing away at your keyboard over Geelong again and getting this so wrong. Don't Hawthorn have more important things to worry about like trying to find a buyer for T.Mitchell again?

:laughv1: "furiously bashing away", replace Mackie with Dodoro. This wasn't a Geelong hit, this was a hit at the quote. I got who said it wrong but its still funny all the same that someone would say that.

Why would we worry? We either keep a former Brownlow medallist or get what we want for him, hardly a bad problem to have.

Every club is clamouring to get the 'We were always interested in him' line out there

Out of context. Selwood is saying it’s a vacation not a job.

It’s very clear that Geelong players are having third party deals either approved by the AFL or under the table.

Are the Geelong the only club to have third party party deals? No, it’s league wide.

Geelong are best at it.
In English:

"I don't like this therefore there's cheating happening"

Lol the media really are desperate for Geelong to get this one eh. Why is Ablett talking about Bowes worth an article? Intel? He played with him for one year 5 years ago then ****ed off home leaving the Suns in the lurch.

Any article on Scrimshaw, who he was drafted with? No. Because neither tenuous link is news.

Then there is this from Cal Twomey:

"Brad Scott met with Bowes in his first official day as Essendon coach and he has also met with Hawks coach Sam Mitchell and Geelong's contingent, with the Cats' strong interest in him as a player."

Why the throw away line at the end Cal? As if Essendon, Hawthorn and North are not interested in him as a player?!

Cats seem to be really pushing this "we were into him before pick 7 was a thing and nobody else was" line, its weird.

It's the media, it's Whateley, it's Hocking, it's the farms, it's 'insert most recent Geelong boogeyman here'.

The kid will pick whoever he wants to play for, there's no grand conspiracy at work here.

No offence, but I don't believe there is any concentrate evidence of the media pushing Bowes to Geelong, the latest reports suggest he will nominate the club that rate him and his playing ability more than the pick 7 'sweetner' and apparently Geelong and Chris Scott have done a good job convincing him he will have a place in their best 22.

Your post does seem a bit of sour grapes/jealousy tbh
