If Rankine has personal issues large enough needing him to "go home" then Adelaide could leverage their pick 4 in the PSD for that as no other team would pick up such a potentially risky selection.

But there's no talk like that at all, so it's worth nothing.

If Rankin was there in the psd I would hope the Eagles would swoop.

It works out or he gets traded a year later.

Players of that quality shouldn't slide to pick 4 in the psd.

Players get paid more or less of their worth all the time because there’s a salary cap aswell as a floor.
North Melbournes team is getting paid near or the same as geelongs team.
People get so caught up in reported player pay figures but it’s all relative.
the cows might be moving on a few players so if they don’t spend this 700-900k next season it’s a salary cap breach.
Also if you overpay to many undeserving youth on within your list you can create complacently lose drive and float in the abyss like Carlton and others in days gone by.

We have Jed Walter coming through the academy next year who is rated pretty highly at this stage (things can change though of course) and potentially a couple of others who may be draft worthy, so I think we’d much prefer this year on the off chance that pick next year gets eaten up.

Plus, given how amazing the suns are at trading, we will take next years pick and Adelaide will somehow rocket to the top of the ladder and we’ll be left with a pick in the teens.

If there is any truth to what Rucci put up, it seems that coming not just to SA but to Adelaide was the key part if he moves. Yes the money will be big but if it was purely about money then why supposedly refuse to even speak to port if he might want back to his home state?. Why shut Essendon out if they already came in with a big offer - maybe they might up it if he was open to a move there.

It only really makes sense BECAUSE he is coming to the crows IF the rumors of him wanting to leave are true - like Dangerfield who could have had bigger pay days at other clubs but only wanted to leave to go to Geelong
