Why do Crows supporters think a player who was drafted with pick 88, traded a few years later for a future fourth rounder, and who is now three years older and still playing mostly SANFL, has suddenly upped his worth to a third rounder? It is truly truly baffling.

You'll get a pick in the 60's or 70's. Deal with it. Expecting anything else is setting yourself up for disappointment.
Disappointment? I'm still scarred from not getting pick 2 as compo for Brad Crouch when the club assured us that's what we were getting :-(

Just spitballing how we could tie in the frampton deal to help us get Rankine

Its a bit out there but here goes.

Crows
Out: Frampton, 2022 2nd
In Collingwood 2022 2nd and 2023 2nd

Collingwood
Out 2022 2nd & 2023 2nd
In Frampton & Crows 2022 2nd

You would essentially be upgrading your 2nd this year quite a bit at the cost of your 2nd next year and get Frampton for essentially nothing. But it gives us an extra future 2nd whilst still staying in the 2nd round this year. Then the crows could offer up their future 1st and the collingwood future 2nd to GC for Rankine - thats a lot of points for next year's academy players or possibly gives them a 1st round pick that gets in before a bid comes in on their academy kids and points for any bid
Lmao we can get Frampton for essentially nothing without losing any picks. Not to mention we don’t even have a second rounder this year.

You don't chase players who you think are only worth a throwaway 4th round pick. Why would you waste a list spot on someone like that?
I think it might be a future second for him and our future third. You guys are in the top 4 and we are in the bottom 6, so the gap between your second and out third wouldn't be very much.
Our last 2 full backs in Dunn and Roughead were traded for fourth rounders, and both had significantly better resumes than Frampton.
So yeah, happy to ‘waste’ a list spot on a player we can get for a fourth rounder.

Frampton isn’t a walk up best 22 at Collingwood. He is depth with the possibility of turning him into a solid backman. It’s not as if you can’t find them in the VFL. In fact we did rookie list Charlie Dean who unfortunately copped a couple of injuries ending his season when he was about to be selected. Hawthorn picked one up in the mid season draft who played practically every game.

Yup, he's cheap coverage for Howe and co as an interceptor, and Adelaide is almost forced to move him on due to our list situation.

Token 4th-5th round pick coming back which won't be used at the draft (unless Collingwood is setting up to be out of the draft early). Effectively a DFA in all but name.

I had high hopes for Frampton when he was at Port but he's a good SANFL player unfortunately he hasn't taken that to the AFL
I dont understand why Collingwood are chasing him but if he can turn it around good on him and the Pies
Because they know what potential he can have, his ability to intercept and read the play is terrific. That style is our defence.
Leppitich will turn him into a more than capable defender.

His original draft pick is irrelevant.

Has done a more at the crows than he did at the power.

I’d say he’s around pick 55-ish

Do you usually base things on a sample size of 1?

Try listing all the trades from last year or so...

Most good judges would have said at the time that you got Lipinski for a bargain value.
Try listing all the trades from last ten years or so where a 26 year old out of contract fringe player fetched a pick in the 40's or above?

So rankine worth a f1 with high second coming back but billy list clogger frampton worth a pick in the 40s …

Lol - radelaide supporters truly a special breed
What's your point?

Both players have spent time in the reserves and Billy plays a far more valuable position.

Collingwood will give the Crows their last draft pick, because Billy is taking that list spot and they won't be able to use it.

That pick currently looks like 48, assuming Collingwood still want to do three draft picks.

So, you don't trade with the Crows and you get Billy as a DFA.

That probably happens.

That means he changes clubs quite a few weeks later, and misses a lot of pre season due to list lodgement times.

Clubs do these trades all the time to help the player and their new club, but it needs to make sense for both sides - Collingwood have to offer a pick that has points the Crows can use.

Lynden Dunn - 165 games + pick 51 traded for pick 47. 4 pick upgrade.

Jordan Roughead - 100+ games, premiership player, traded for pick 75.

Darcy Cameron + 62 traded for pick 56. 6 pick upgrade.

Yet somehow Frampton, with 8 years in the system, 24 games and nothing notable done in his career is worth a third.

Drugs are bad kids.

Every chance that Collingwood uses those picks to try to trade up in to the earlier stages of the draft.

Collingwood are under no obligation to give Adelaide a pick they can use for a player they were likely to delist anyway. This is fantasy stuff…
