Traded Izak Rankine traded to Adelaide with #46 & F4 (Freo) for #5, F3 & F4

I'm now convinced this is going to be an unmitigated disaster for Adelaide.

He's got toxic family in SA, manager doesn't think it's a good idea. I know for a fact his mates back home are bad news. Offering him $900k. He hates pressure and spotlight.

No threat of PSD cos Rankine doesn't want to but even if he does well let North take him.

Two first round picks has to be our minimum based off what they're offering him.

Don't get it twisted cows, he wanted to stay. He's coming home for money. This ends badly for the Crows camp (and Crows camps never end well).
Is this the despair stage, the desperation stage or the acceptance stage?

I think Rankine is probably at least 90 % chance likely to join Adelaide, but he isn't over the line yet. Still a chance he has a last minute change of heart like Gaff and North Melbourne.

That seems very Unlikely but you can never say never until IR officially announced he wants a trade to the Crows.

Only going to say this once. Adelaide CANNOT trade pick #4,5,6 whatever it is.

One massive question must be asked!!
Does Adelaide have an A-Grade midfielder?

NO WE DO NOT

So, drafting one becomes top priority. Rachele great, fantastic we have an elite forward we needed. To add to the Big Cheese Spread and the Fog.

But really, can't kick Sam Berry (Get him forward as a pressure specialist. Get Pedlar in the gust. Sorry, cheap plug) Schoers, Keays (Keap him forward too!) Laird, Crouch (Gone I think)

Is this a Premiership midfield? Therefore, our first pick CANNOT be used on Rankine!

Then how do you propose to find a fair trade for him?

I know that but I was replying to that poster who seems to have a very abrasive take on things..I was just trying to determine what stage of the well worn process he was at

Oh geez if he signs on for that amount of coin at West Lakes, he would want to have an AA Calibre season in 2023, or the media and Crows fans will have his guts for garters.

I get they have to pay (financial) overs to get good players to the club, but I assume he will be Adelaide's highest paid player in that deal, not sure if that will sit well with some of the Crows players.

Not saying this to annoy Crows fans, but a deal like this could have the potential backfire, from a team harmony perspective.

Anyhow, if he goes to Adelaide, I wish him all the best there and hope Gold Coast get adequate compensation
Oh geez you making up crap again

Yeah if I was the Suns, I'd be getting in his ear about this.

"You really want to put that massive target on your back in a footy-mad town, where every poor game will have the fans and media out for your blood?"
Yes, stay in the Gold Coast where nobody knows you and when you do something incredible on game day nobody notices.

You'll be much happier if nobody notices your career Izak.

It's all guess work and media waffle at this stage, still part of me still thinks Rankine and his management are holding out for more money from Gold Coast, but the evidence seems to be mounting the Crows have offered him an offer too good to be true.

I don't believe it's as much as the media is reporting though.

Or
" Do you really want to play in front of a packed Adelaide Oval with 55,000 Crows supporters barracking for you?
Do you really want to be home with friends and family?
Do you really want to play for the team you grew up barracking for?"
Exactly, just saw this.

You honestly wouldn't believe the rubbish people are spewing on some weird attempt to justify why this deal should not go through.

Maybe its a 3 club deal that gets it done IF there is no consensus on pick 4 as a straight swap from one or both clubs.

As the posted I was responding to said..

"Adelaide CANNOT trade pick #4,5,6 whatever it is."

Take that out of the equation, and a deal would be very hard to make.

Missed the point entirely. Crows fans are delusional if they don’t think that the ridiculous contract offer is the main reason he’s leaving the suns
We 100% understand, it's the Victorians who are delusional claiming 'homesickness' every year, when we all know it's the cash.

Every. Single. Time.

This is the first time Adelaide has done it, maybe second if you count Dawson, perhaps your insight into the situation can make you reassess your perspective on the countless raids on GWS and Gold Coast since their inception.

Oi what? They can't? If they're offering that kinda money to Rankine you better believe they're trading that first rounder for him, 100%.

There is certainly a pathway to avoid trading that first rounder for him, but it'd require some creative trading/being a third party in a trade to find another first round pick this year. Brisbane stands out in that regard, though I have no doubt we're not the only one eying that off. Get that, add in some steak knives and we should be in a pretty good place to avoid moving on a top 5 pick.

I've called for this list management and recruiting staff to "Do a North" Before!

We need an A-Grade midfielder. Is this staff going to draft one or are we destined to finish 4-16th for 10 years?

I doubt the trade will be fair. Was the Paddy D flog traid fair? Didn't get anywhere near a top 5 pick. Milera hopefully can fulfil his potential though after the flog retires.

We have a number of B-Graders. Offer Scholl, Berry, McAsey, Rowe, Gollant, Warrell, Himmelberg, Crouch (Probably first offered) these kind of guys, packaged with 2022 or 23 2nd rounder.

Dude is out of contract and we are bottom 5. Can Gold Coast seriously barter too much?

Offer 2023 first rounder if absolutely necessary (Goodbye JFH) but this year MUST be taking an elite midfielder!

Would be surprised. Top 5 pick and steak knives is more where I think it will land, particularly given the $$$ on offer.

Anyway, good on Adelaide for making an aggressive play like this. Would be hard for Rankine to turn down that deal.

Bwaha, hahahahaha.

Dangerfield was an RFA which is why you didn't get full value for him.

True but the club indicated they were going to match any bid and therefore before that happened, Geelong went to trade. Remember that before you traded for Dangerfield, you passed on a 1st rounder for Henderson that could and should have gone to us along with your pick 9 as he was just about the premier midfielder in the comp at his prime

So you guys certainly lowballed us there

We did but the aim of that trade was not to compensate the Crows with full value for Dangefield. We didn't have the assets to pay that.

The deal was worked out so the Crows got something more than the compo pick, which IIRC was what the Crows wanted. Was quite professionally handled that trade.

Yeah, pass.

Yes. We can barter that much.

"We got screwed over, therefore you have to" isn't a valid argument.

It's definitely the more likely, seeing trading for first round picks isn't particularly easy (and we don't have the draft collateral we did last year). That said, it is an OOC situation so the buying team is the one in control.

Of course we may just say * it and gamble that we improve in 2023 with our '23 1st.

The aim of just about every OOC trade is to not compensate the losing team with full value.
